Broadloom carpet within the interior design

Broadloom carpet covers the floor in widths cut from rolls. It can create a calm overall appearance, but does not mean every room can be installed without seams. Room dimensions, roll width, pattern and direction collectively determine the layout.

We compare broadloom carpet and rugs from different manufacturers. DESSO by Tarkett is one option within that broader offer. We first discuss the room function and intended appearance, then select a suitable quality, colour and finish while checking current product specifications.

From hotel bedrooms to enclosed workspaces

A hotel bedroom calls for a different assessment from an office with daily castor-chair use. Tactile qualities may carry more weight in a lounge, while circulation routes, luggage and cleaning arrangements matter in a corridor. Use should lead the material decision.

Carpet can contribute to the acoustic design of a room. Its effect depends on the selected floor and the rest of the interior. Where a specific acoustic outcome is required, product data should be considered together with walls, ceilings, furniture and curtains.

Assess colour and texture in the actual space

A strong colour can give a reception area character. A mixed visual texture may be practical in busy areas. The right choice also depends on the lighting, wall colours and how the space will be used after handover.

Assess samples in daylight and under the proposed lighting. Review adjoining materials as well: a transition to LVT, stone or timber is more coherent when height, colour and edge treatment are planned together.

An installation layout prevents surprises

Seam positions, pile direction and any pattern matching are discussed in advance. Access, furniture moves and the sequence of work also need to be planned. In a hotel or office that remains open, working by room, floor or zone may provide a workable approach.

The substrate must suit the specified installation system. We include preparation in the proposal and follow the instructions for the selected collection. Adding an arbitrary underlay is therefore not a default solution.

Plan care and future repairs from the outset

Commercial carpet needs a defined cleaning routine, prompt treatment of spills and periodic maintenance in line with the product instructions. Include the building manager or cleaning provider in the design conversation.

Where local replacement or access to a raised floor matters, we compare broadloom with carpet tiles. For an individual accent, we can explore a custom rug, subject to the selected collection and finishing options.

Send drawings, a description of the rooms and the intended programme. We discuss options and arrange site advice by appointment, considering delivery, fitting and connections with the other interior elements.

Frequently asked questions

Is commercial carpet suitable for castor chairs?

The selected product specifications and intended application must support that use. We assess the seating arrangement and discuss appropriate castors and any necessary protection.

Can you guarantee a completely seamless floor?

Not without reviewing the room and collection. Roll width, layout and pattern determine where seams are needed. We discuss the seam plan before ordering and fitting.

Can flooring, curtains and solar shading be coordinated?

Yes. Dutch Project Flooring can discuss these elements within one project, coordinating material choices and installation sequence with the rooms and programme.
