Broadloom carpet or modular carpet tiles?
Broadloom carpet creates a continuous soft finish and can suit guest rooms, lounges and corridors. Carpet tiles offer a modular layout that can make local replacement and access more practical. The choice depends on the design, traffic and operating requirements.
Review pile construction, backing, use classification, cleaning guidance and any acoustic or fire documentation required by the project. Available roll widths and pattern repeats influence seam positions and material use; they are confirmed for the selected collection.
Seams, pattern matching and cutting plans
A carpet layout should be planned before ordering. Patterned materials need allowance for repeat matching, and corridors can require more careful alignment than a simple rectangular room. Avoid treating the measured net area as the final order quantity.
We consider where seams fall, how rooms connect and which areas have the most visible sightlines. Stair details, door thresholds and junctions with LVT or tile should be agreed with the wider interior specification.
Substrate and installation method
The substrate needs to meet the selected system’s requirements for moisture, soundness and flatness. Adhesive, tackifier or other fixing methods are chosen around the backing, substrate and intended use. Do not assume that every carpet tile uses the same installation product.
Preparation and curing time affect access to rooms. In occupied buildings, agree a sequence that separates active areas from installation zones and protects completed work from subsequent trades.
Carpet in hospitality and marine settings
Hotels need a balance between appearance, comfort and maintainability across guest rooms and circulation areas. Different zones may use different products while sharing a colour palette. Consider luggage movement, cleaning access and the possibility of future repair.
Marine projects require vessel-specific product and assembly documentation. A carpet described as commercial is not automatically suitable for a ship. The responsible project team must confirm the required approvals before materials and installation products are ordered.
Rugs, finishing and care
Custom rugs can add a softer layer to an LVT interior. Size, edge finish, backing and the relationship with doors and furniture need review. Confirm the selected material’s production limits and care guidance before finalising the order.
At handover, record cleaning instructions and any restrictions during adhesive curing. Vacuuming, prompt treatment of spills and suitable cleaning products form part of a realistic maintenance plan. We discuss these details alongside product selection.

What do you need for an initial project proposal?
Send plans, photographs, the location, approximate areas and the target programme. Include product preferences and existing specifications. The proposal is refined around a site assessment and an agreed scope.
Can you work around a phased programme?
Phased access and out-of-hours work can be discussed. Product availability, substrate condition, drying and curing requirements determine the practical sequence; a target date must be checked against these conditions.
Can flooring, curtains and shading be coordinated?
For residential and suitable commercial projects, these services can be included in one agreed package. Each service still needs its own measurements, specification and installation provisions.
